Dance Shoes

Dance shoes come in many different styles designed to fit the many different dance styles out there. Ballet slippers, tap shoes, swing-dance shoes, jazz shoes, ballroom shoes and even hip hop shoes all have specific features that cater to the dancer performing that particular style of dance.

If you are a serious dancer, or plan to spend a lot of time dancing, it is a good idea to splurge on a nice pair of dance shoes. Although, in most cases, they will cost you $100 - $150, they will last you a while and it is worth the money to be comfortable and perform to your best abilities.

When you purchase dance shoes be sure to try many different brands and styles on and don’t be embarrassed to walk around a bit and even take a few turns in them at the store. The shoes should be tight, but shouldn’t pinch anywhere at anytime. With dance shoes you want a perfect fit, so plan plenty of time to shop around before you buy, especially your fist time.

Once you find the perfect pair that doesn’t slip or pinch, take them home and wear them around the house for a bit, before wearing them in class. You will want them to be broken in order to avoid getting blisters. Once they are broken in you are all set to get dancing.
