Dance Music
Dance music comes in as many different forms as there are different styles of dance. Every single style of dance from ballroom to hip hop requires different tempos, beats, instrumentals, etc. The music in dance is as important as the choreography.
The beat and tempo of the music will often be the determining factor of what type of dance it would best match. In ballroom and swing, the tempo may be quicker, but the beat wouldn’t be overly noticeable. In modern style dance, the tempo is very slow, but the beat will usually be a bit more noticeable.
In both hip hop and tap the tempo is typically very quick; however each style requires a different beat. In hip hop dance the beat is very present and the base is very strong, whereas tap doesn’t have a strong base in the beat. Ballet typically has both a slow tempo and a less noticeable beat.
Music is made to be danced to, whether you are performing in front of thousands of people or alone in your bedroom.
